Autumn: Things I need to consider

The length of the day is getting shorter, the leaves dry and fall from the trees, a cool breeze blows in the morning and evening. Autumn has arrived! This season is for the earth a transitional period but also for our bodies that have been strained by the temperatures and activities of the summer.

The good, carefree days of endless walks on the beaches may be a thing of the past, but the truth is that the summer heat is not the best for the human body. On the contrary, autumn “hides” particularly beneficial actions for humans. The temperature is starting to drop a bit which makes walking, jogging and cycling in nature ideal exercise options without worrying about any complications due to high temperatures. Pay attention only to rapid weather changes where flu and illness may knock on your door.

5 golden tips…
1) Hot and seasonal food
The temperature difference between summer and autumn (it often comes suddenly) is often underestimated and therefore many of us perceive the cold as excessive. The best way to achieve adaptation to the new temperatures is through nutrition. Prefer seasonal fruits and vegetables, since in autumn the earth is generous: chestnuts, pumpkins, grapes, cabbage, beets, etc. are some of the foods that enter the table. This is the ideal time to warm up with soups, vegetable purees, tea at different times of the day, and even with the help of spices such as turmeric, ginger, cinnamon, cloves.

2) Strengthening the immune system
The change of season is a critical time for our immune system and this is the best time to boost it and be strong for the winter. And in this case, the contribution of food is important. Drink plenty of water, eat raw or cooked vegetables, fruits (even dried) every day, and eat foods that contain vitamin C. You can, however, use natural remedies to boost your defenses, such as echinacea, astragalus, rosehip , elderberry, garlic, zinc, royal jelly, propolis and more. In both pharmacies and herbal shops, you can find many products aimed at strengthening the immune system.

3) No laziness
In the summer we spend more time outdoors and therefore we usually move more. It is easy, therefore, in autumn to be in a bad mood, also affected by the weather conditions. However, we must not forget that moderate physical activity is essential. We can choose the one we like, such as exercise, swimming, running, walking, etc. The important thing is to avoid a sedentary life.

4) Adequate rest
Autumn is the right time to slow down the intense pace. Rest well and for a long time. It is important to follow a certain schedule, i.e. go to bed around the same time and also wake up at the set time. Something that is good to apply all year round is to eat at least 2-3 hours before bed. In this way, digestion and, consequently, sleep is facilitated.
